wifireal - network connection help
 
If you cannot immediately connect to the wifireal network, simply follow the instructions below. The settings are for Windows XP (service pack 2). Settings for other Windows systems are similar, please ask at reception for a help sheet specific to your system.
 

A. check your SSID

1. Click on ‘Start’
2. Go to the ‘Control Panel’
3. Select ‘Network Communication’
4. Right click on the ‘Wireless Network Connection’
5. Choose ‘View Available Wireless Networks’ to
bring up the screen shown on the right >
6. Click on the network ‘wifireal’ and select ‘connect’

B. Obtain an IP address

1. Click on ‘Start’
2. Go to the ‘Control Panel’
3. Select ‘Network Communication’
4. Right click on the ‘ Wireless Network Connection’
5. Choose ‘Properties’
6. Click on the ‘General’ tab
7. Highlight the ‘Internet protocol TCP/IP option in the drop down menu and click on properties.
8. This opens a new dialogue box, continue with section C.

 

 

C. Obtain an IP address contd.

1. Select ‘Obtain an IP address automatically’
2. Select ‘Obtain DNS server address automatically’
3. Click on the ‘OK’ to confirm


 


D. Configure your browser

1. Select ‘Internet Explorer’
2. Go to the ‘Tools’ menu
3. Select ‘Internet Options’ and the tab ’Connections’
4. Click on‘ LAN Settings’ to open the window to the left
5. Ensure the following are NOT selected.
• ’Automatically detect settings’
• ’Use automatic configuration script’
• ’Use a proxy server for your LAN’

6. Click on the‘ OK’ to confirm

Q. What if I still cannot get online?

A. Contact our reception team who will be able to check that there are no problems with the password and user name or with connections to the room. You may also have to contact your own IT department to see if there are any problems with you laptop and settings.

Q. Can I use my units on different visits?

A: Yes. As soon as you log on, the units are activated and continue for the time allocated, ie, 1 hr, 24 hrs, one week, etc. That is regardless of whether you are online or not or how many of our hotels you visit during the active period.

Q. How can I pay for wifi4real units?

A. You can either pay by cash or if you are a resident, you can charge it to your room. It will appear on your invoice under the Room Service as Internet.
